This class will focus on the fundamental skills of the rifle as a civilian survival and self defense tool, i.e, delivering rapid hits on target from field positions, and keeping your gun running.
This will focus on cover and movement and engagement within 200 yards so a light weight, magazine fed rifle would be the ideal. ARs and AKs work well but even a 10/22 or mag fed .22 will work pretty well for everything except the longest ranges.
I'll have a couple of ARs and an AK available if someone wants to attend but doesn't have a suitable rifle.
Topics covered will include fundamentals of rifle handling and marksmanship, shooting positions, introduction to ballistics, and how to zero a rifle.
We'll do a fair amount of movement to cover and multiple target engagement drills.
This class will serve both new shooters and the more experienced who want to "tune up" or get familiar with a new rifle.
Equipment required:
Rifle (Any rifle will do but a magazine fed semi-auto is preferred)
A sling for the rifle (standard two point "carry strap" is fine)
Two magazines
Minimum 100 rounds of ammo (bring more to shoot more)
Eye and ear protection
Brimmed hat or cap
Knee pads are optional.
